Position Summary

Dempsey Staffing Firm is hiring caring and dependable Substitute Assistant Teachers to support classroom instruction and daily childcare operations. This position assists lead teachers in maintaining a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with classroom activities and learning centers.
  • Supervise children during play, meals, and transitions.
  • Help maintain classroom cleanliness and organization.
  • Support diapering, toileting, and hygiene routines as appropriate.
  • Prepare instructional materials.
  • Encourage positive behavior and social interaction.
  • Follow classroom schedules and routines.
  • Assist during outdoor activities and field trips.
  • Report concerns to the classroom teacher or site supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED. Experience working with young children. Ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred

  • CDA Credential. College coursework in Early Childhood Education.Bilingual skills.

Required Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid .Mandated Reporter Training.Background clearance and fingerprinting. Health screening documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 40 pounds. Frequently bend, kneel, and sit on the floor.Assist children with daily routines.

Schedule

Position Summary

Dempsey Staffing Firm is seeking qualified Substitute Classroom Teachers to provide instructional support in early childhood classrooms serving infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Substitute Teachers maintain classroom continuity while supporting children's educational, social, and emotional development during staff absences.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervise children in accordance with classroom ratios and safety requirements.
  • Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support children's cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Observe and document children's behavior as requested.
  • Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
  • Follow health, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with classroom staff and administrators.
  • Report safety concerns or incidents immediately.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field, or qualifications meeting Illinois early childhood staffing requirements.
  • Experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience in laboratory schools or Head Start programs.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Required Certifications

  • CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain).

  • Illinois required background checks and fingerprint clearance.
  • Current health documentation as required.

Dempsey Staffing Firm is seeking Substitute Cooks and Food Service Workers to prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled in Child Development Laboratory Centers while maintaining food safety and sanitation standards.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals and snacks according to approved menus.
  • Follow USDA, CACFP, and Illinois food safety requirements.
  • Practice proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment.
  • Receive and store food deliveries.
  • Monitor food temperatures.
  • Accommodate documented dietary restrictions and allergies.
  • Wash dishes and sanitize food preparation areas.
  • Maintain inventory and report shortages.
  • Complete required kitchen documentation.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED. Experience in food preparation. Knowledge of sanitation practices.

Preferred

  • Experience in childcare or school food service. ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification.
